The Mission and Science of the
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is part of an ecosystem of labs administered by the Department of Energy; each of which have broad and comprehensive activities in support of national missions. The PNNL’s programs address areas fundamental science, national security, energy and environment and are meant to tackle large scientific problems that evolve high risk and high hazards. These efforts are supported by vigorous multidisciplinary research efforts. Many important national capabilities are the result of the laboratories' ability to draw upon their diverse technical capabilities to form multidisciplinary teams that can drive leading edge science and from it provide real world solutions.  This talk will illustrate the science focus and accomplishments of PNNL as well as highlight unique career opportunities that exist within the National laboratory system.
