Advice to my younger self:
Tips and lessons for a career in science

Abstract:  A career in science can be both highly rewarding and highly challenging – often at the same time.  Rewards include participating in scientific discoveries, new innovations, advancement of scientific knowledge, mentoring, collaborating, and being a part of something bigger than yourself. Challenges include maintaining a quality work life balance, workforce trends, and professional biases.   Navigating the challenges can be difficult and frustrating but the payoff can be an incredibly rewarding career in science.   I will discuss my personal experiences, rewards from science, lessons learned, observations, and general philosophy based upon my 26 year career
